What is the Story Downloader?
Instagram stories disappear 24 hours after they're posted unless the person who shared them saves it as a highlight. The Story Downloader is IGAnony's tool for keeping your own copy before that happens — paste a username or a direct story link, and it pulls the current stories from that public profile as full-resolution photo or video files.
It's the same fetch IGAnony's Story Viewer uses, with the download step front and center: instead of just watching a story play out, you get a file you can keep. Like every IGAnony tool, it only works on public accounts — there's no version of this tool, ours or anyone else's, that can reach into a private account's stories.
How to download an Instagram story

Get the username or story link
Type the Instagram username directly, or if you already have a story open in the app, use the Share button to copy its link.

Paste it into the box above
The Stories tab is selected by default on this page — just drop in what you copied and press "View stories."

Preview each story
Every active story from that profile loads in order. Tap through them like you would in the Instagram app.

Download the ones you want
Each story has its own download button. Photos save as JPG, videos save as MP4, both at the resolution they were originally posted in.

Whether a story is a still photo or a video clip, the download button gives you the right file type automatically — no separate tools needed.
No watermark, no compression
Downloads keep the original resolution and aspect ratio the story was posted in. Nothing is re-encoded, cropped, or stamped with a logo.
Music and stickers included
If a story has a music sticker or an audio track baked into a video, that audio comes with the download — it isn't stripped out.
Batch-friendly
An account with several active stories loads them all at once, so you can move through and download the ones you need without re-searching.
Stories vs. highlights: which one do you need?
If a story is still within its first 24 hours, it shows up here, on the Stories tab. Once that window closes, the story is gone from Instagram entirely unless the account owner chose to save it into a highlight — a named, permanent album on their profile.
If you're too late for a story and it's not showing up anymore, check whether the account saved it as a highlight and use the Highlights Downloader instead. If it isn't in either place, the story simply wasn't kept, and there's no way — through IGAnony or any other tool — to recover content Instagram itself no longer has.
Downloading on your device
iPhone
Tap the download button on a story; Safari and Chrome on iOS will prompt you to save the file, which lands in your Photos app for images or the Files app for video, depending on your browser's download settings.
Android
Tap download and the file saves straight to your device's Downloads or Gallery folder, depending on which browser you're using — most Android browsers save images directly into your photo gallery.
Desktop
Click download and the file saves to your browser's default downloads folder, just like downloading any image or video from a website.
Story downloader FAQ
Can I download a story that's about to expire?
Yes — as long as it's still visible on the account's profile (within its 24-hour window), the Story Downloader can fetch and save it. There's no minimum time left required.
What file format do downloads come in?
Photo stories download as JPG files, video stories download as MP4. Both keep the resolution and orientation they were originally posted in.
Can I download a story with music?
Yes. If a video story includes an audio track or a music sticker, the downloaded file keeps that audio — it isn't a silent version.
Does downloading a story notify the person who posted it?
No. IGAnony fetches the story the same way any logged-out visitor to Instagram's public pages would, so there's no notification, view count, or viewer-list entry generated.
Can I download stories from a private account?
No. The Story Downloader can only access stories from public accounts. Private accounts control who can see their stories, and that choice is respected here.
Why is a story missing from the results?
Either it's already expired (past 24 hours and not saved as a highlight), or the account removed it manually. Check the Highlights Downloader in case it was saved there instead.
Is there a limit to how many stories I can download?
No fixed limit for normal use — you can download every active story from a profile in one session. Extremely high-volume automated requests may be rate-limited to keep the service available for everyone.
Can I download my own stories in bulk?
Yes. The Story Downloader treats your own public account the same as any other — search your own username to pull and save your current stories.
